League Prize Money | ||
---|---|---|
For the 2011/2012 season it was voted at the league meeting on September 26, 2011 that there would not be any prize payouts for the 2011/2012 season. It was further agreed by all teams at the September 2009 team meeting that future prize payouts, if restored in future seasons, would not exceed $750 in total and that all the divisions (A, B, and C) would share equally in the prize payouts. The objective is to put a reasonable model in place and not change it. |

League Rules | |
---|---|
(1) | Games start at 7:00 pm sharp, whether or not you have a full team or warm-up time. If your team is not ready to start, you will get 0 points for your first game. Start with whom you have. For the 8:00 & 9:00 games, there will be no warm-up if it is behind schedule. |
(2) | Flip a coin to start the game. Winner of the flip serves first and may pick side. |
(3) | 3 men and 3 women on the court unless an injury occurs. A woman may then replace the injured person. |
(4) | To serve, the player must have one foot behind the line or it is loss of serve. The server may serve from anywhere behind the back line. A bock serve is permitted. |
(5) | When starting a new game, players can switch positions and the server does not have to rotate. During play, players in the front row may switch positions but resume regular positions at the serve. |
(6) | A serve into the net is a loss of serve & a point for the other team. If a serve skims the net but still goes over, it is live. |
(7) | No rotation on the serve will result in a loss of serve and point for the other team. |
(8) | 5 serve rotation. |
(9) | Before each serve the referee will wave his or her hand to eliminate too many whistle sounds. |
(10) | If a ball from the other court comes into play, play will be dead and there will be a re-serve. |
(11) | If a player gets hurt and the game has to be stopped, there will be a re-serve. |
(12) | A block is not considered a hit. The team is allowed 3 hits after a block before the ball must go over the net. |
(13) | Players may not block a serve. |
(14) | No going over the net when tipping except on a block. No contact with the net. The team that touches the net is at fault. |
(15) | Lifting, scooping or throwing is not allowed and will be strictly enforced and called by the referee at their discretion. |
(16) | You are allowed under the net as long as it does not interfere with the game or other players. If it interferes it will be called. |
(17) | Nothing below the waist is allowed as a hit. (ie. kicking, kneeing) |
(18) | A back row player may not run up to the front row and spike a ball. Players must remain behind the attack line if spiking from the back row. If there is no attack line, the call will be at the referee's discretion. |
(19) | Any ball that lands on the line is considered in. |
(20) | Refs are responsible for calling the lines, keeping scores and taking care of balls. Team captains should help. |
(21) | Referee's decision is final. Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated. In the event that a player gets disrespectful towards the referee, he/she will receive a warning from the referee that this is unacceptable and the opposing team will receive one point. Should that same player during the remainder of that evening of play again decide to challenge the referee and show disrespect a second time, he/she will be ejected from the remainder of that evening’s game(s) as well as be disallowed to play any of the games the following week and the opposing team will receive one point. Only team captains are allowed to address the referees. ** If a ref complains to the team running the league about a particular team or individual player, the team will lose 25 points. ** |
(22) | First team to 25 points wins. You do not need to win by 2 points. Final score will be marked as is. Total maximum points for the night is 100 of a possible 100 (4 games at 25 points per game). |
(23) | After your night's final game, each team captain is required to double check the date, team names and score. If satisfied the captain will sign the score sheet. |
(24) | If games are cancelled due to foreseen circumstances, the league will be responsible for scheduling a make-up game within 10 days if possible. If not accepted by another team, the onus will then be on the teams to re-schedule and play their game within 10 days, and are responsible for finding referees. The team that cannot do this will forfeit the points for that game. If a game is cancelled by an individual team, the league is not responsible for rescheduling that game and is not responsible for the costs incurred (referees, rentals, etc). The cancelling team will be responsible for the rescheduling the game, and all games must be completed and results reported back in within two weeks. |
(25) | Team captains need to notify the league if there is a change in schedule by phone and/or email. |
(26) | Players must be 19 years old by April 2020. |
(27) | No pregnant woman will play after the announcement is made. |
(28) | Roster may consist of up to 14 people whom are signed to play on only one team. |
(29) | League fee is $200. Roster and fee is due the first night - Monday, October 15, 2018. Cheque is payable to Zurich Volleyball League. Any team who fails to meet this deadline will result in 0 points on the first evening and will continue to receive 0 points each night until payment is received in full. Any NSF cheques received will also be treated as money not received and will result in both a 0 point night and that team will also be responsible for the NSF charges that the league incurred. |
(30) | In the event of a tie for the final playoff game, an additional game to 25 will be played. The first team to 25 will be the winner. |
(31) | Only captains can direct questions or comments to Trevor Skinner and Jen Skinner (organizing team liason). |
